Wha? iPhone Doesn’t Display Pictures in Text Messages?
I don’t need, nor do I want, to hack my iPhone: I don’t need a book reader, a graphing calculator or a wi-fi detector (uh, the iPhone is already is a wi-fi detector). This does not mean that I don’t want other things, such as Gmail instant messaging. But I am patient, patient as any techno-tard.
Anyway, I’m pretty happy with the thing. It works, it does what I expect it to do, it makes me all happy inside. Except…
First and foremost, the lack of picture text messaging is pretty disturbing. And the fix Apple and/or AT&T inflicted upon me is especially egregious. Rather than simply display an image in the SMS interface, you get the following text from AT&T:
I sent you a multimedia message. You can view my message via the internet at viewmymessage.com using Msg ID: c0cegk8uy Password buf8cow
Best of all: The link provided? It isn’t hot.
So, you have to go to Safari, enter the URL, that ridiculous “Msg ID” and “why do they even require it?” password in order to see… yes, the lowest resolution, barely visible pic I’ve ever had the displeasure of viewing:

Completely frustrating. And so unnecessary. Every other phone displays pictures in SMS — why can’t the iPhone?
